August Meineke e il Misoumenos di Menandro

this paper illustrates an example of the contribution offered by nineteenth-century classical philology to the reconstruction of dramatic texts preserved by the indirect tra- dition. in the particular case of the editorial work done by August Meineke on Menander’s Misoumenos, the papyrus tradition has fully confirmed his reconstruction. the intuitions of the great german philologist, duly recorded in the critical apparatus, deserve greater emphasis than they have received so far.
