The exploration of the site of Khirbet al-Batrawy, a previously unknown (even for the JADIS) 3rd millennium BC city lying in the northern periphery of the modern city of Zarqa, started in 2005 and it was carried on for nine seasons (2005-2013) by Rome «La Sapienza» Expedition to Jordan with the support of the Italian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, under the aegis of the Department of Antiquities of the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan.
