DROSSCAPE. PROGETTI DI TRASFORMAZIONE NEL TERRITORIO DAL MARE A ROMA

The text presents the results of the research Prin Re-cycle Italy conducted by the unit of the Department of Architecture Research and Design of Sapienza University of Rome. The urban area of study consists of the abandoned areas of the south eastern area of Rome, Ostia the territory between the Eur and the sea. Borrowing classification Alan Berger (cfr. A. Berger, Drosscape. Wasting land in urban America, Princeton Architectural Press, New York 2006) the work analyzes the system of abandoned areas in relation to the economic sectors of agriculture, the vehicles, shipbuilding and construction, operating their mapping and assuming renewal and recovery strategies. From scrap places and degradation the drosscapes become places of high potential for the redemption of the land, in search of new economy and life cycles.

Il testo espone i risultati della ricerca Prin Re-cycle Italy condotta dall'unità di ricerca del Dipartimento di Architettura e progetto di Sapienza Università di Roma. L'ambito urbano di studio è costituito dalle aree in abbandono del settore sud orientale di Roma, il territorio ostiense compreso fra l'Eur e il mare. Prendendo a prestito la classificazione di Alan Berger (cfr. A. Berger, Drosscape. Wasting land in urban America, Princeton Architectural Press, New York 2006) la ricerca analizza il sistema delle aree in abbandono in rapporto alle filiere economiche dell'agricoltura, dei veicoli, della nautica e dell'edilizia, operando la loro mappatura e ipotizzando strategie di rinnovo e recupero. Da luoghi dello scarto e del degrado i drosscapes divengono luoghi di elevata potenzialità per il riscatto del territorio, alla ricerca di nuove economia e cicli di vita.
