The article explores the place of pictures and the pictorial in Wittgenstein’s later philosophy and connects the issue to the ethical significance of Wittgenstein’s philosophical work. In doing so it goes over various ways according to which conceptual exploration is a work which can go unseen and thus leave out dimensions of life which are at the heart of Wittgenstein’s interests.
