Interfaces are of crucial importance for design or repair and strengthening, especially in reinforced concrete (RC) elements. In general, interfaces in the case of RC elements are multifactorial. Many phenomena and properties govern the contact laws. Materials and techniques have been studied by many researchers in order to clarify the contribution of each factor to the final response. The basic mechanisms that act on the interface and transfer loads are described in the current chapter. The scope of this work is to inform the practitioners and engineers to better understand the importance of each factor on strengthening design. A major literature overview is presented including research results and codes’ regulations.

Abstract
Interfaces are of crucial importance for design or repair and strengthening, especially in reinforced concrete (RC) elements. In general, interfaces in the case of RC elements are multifactorial. Many phenomena and properties govern the contact laws. Materials and techniques have been studied by many researchers in order to clarify the contribution of each factor to the final response. The basic mechanisms that act on the interface and transfer loads are described in the current chapter. The scope of this work is to inform the practitioners and engineers to better understand the importance of each factor on strengthening design. A major literature overview is presented including research results and codes’ regulations.I documenti in IRIS sono protetti da copyright e tutti i diritti sono riservati, salvo diversa indicazione.
