Urban Waterways: Evolving Paradigms for Hydro-based Urbanisms investigates the environmental, cultural, and economic future of cities on the water in the 21st century. Collected here are urban projects across the globe from 15 cities on 5 continents representing not only the complexities of urban life in the face of environmental concerns, global economic shifts, waste and energy management, and post-industrial legacies but also new thinking and practices that are emerging from a reconsideration of the value of hydro-based urbanism through a recalibration of our settlement patterns. My contribute is a selection of some references from the authors of the articles, plus an integration/addition of other volumes and papers, selected to support the comprehension and the study of the issue of this book. Facing the possible future of water cities across five continents, means approaching different aspects, problems and working methods, going through history, science, geography, urban planning and architecture. Six topics have been identified to make easier the reading of this bibliography and to clarify the main aspects of the issue: “projects and plans to respond to climate change”, “water management”, “designing with water”, “rebuilding after the disaster”, “geography in motion” , “knowing history to design the future”. One other section is dedicated to the books, mentioned in various articles, that are not immediately linked to the main issue, but that can give us a larger vision by their theories

Abstract
One other section is dedicated to the books, mentioned in various articles, that are not immediately linked to the main issue, but that can give us a larger vision by their theoriesI documenti in IRIS sono protetti da copyright e tutti i diritti sono riservati, salvo diversa indicazione.
