La difusión barroca de las columnas salomónicas en los retablos españoles, sicilianos y del Nuevo Mundo. Algunos ejemplos

The study reconstructs the motives and the main stages of the diffusion of the twisted columns in the retablos of Baroque age in the Mediterranean area and Latin America, analyzed not only from a formal point of view but through the signs of the buyers, the influence of religious sermons the comparison with the drawings and engravings contained in the publication for pilgrims (for instance the “guides of Rome”) as well as with architectural treatises whose incisions often had an an independent circulation. The twisted column that offers an unlimited variety of stylistic and geographical expression is analyzed beginning from the petriane columns and their legendary belonging to the Temple showing how artists free themselves gradually not only by Roman examples but also the consolidation of the Treaties up to make a pure decorative element accompanied by decorative exuberance end in itself.

Lo studio ricostruisce i motivi e le tappe principali della diffusione delle colonne tortili nei retablos di età barocca dell’area mediterranea e dell’America Latina, analizzate non soltanto dal punto di vista formale ma attraverso le indicazioni dei committenti, l’influenza dei sermoni religiosi, il confronto con i disegni e con le incisioni contenute nelle pubblicazione per i pellegrini (ad esempio le “guide di Roma”) nonché con i trattati d’architettura le cui incisioni ebbero spesso una diffusione autonoma. La colonna tortile che vanta una illimitata varietà di espressioni stilistiche e geografiche viene analizzata a partire dalle colonne petriane e della loro leggendaria appartenenza al Tempio mostrando come gli artisti si svincolano progressivamente non solo dagli esempi romani ma anche dalla codificazione dei trattati fino a farne un puro elemento decorativo accompagnato da un’esuberanza decorativa fine a se stessa.
