This essay describes the advantages of using the Russian National Corpus in Paremiography and synthesizes the author’s experience in elaboration of Russian part of Refranero multilingüe designed to provide the translation of popular Spanish proverbs into all the languages of the Iberian peninsula and in the main European languages. The use of National Corpus contributes to determinate the proverb list and to describe diachronic changes and variational process in Paremiology as well it is useful for researching neologisms and for detecting updated/ outdated proverbs.
