La prefazione al volume curato da Raffele Panella illustra il contributo dato allo studio delle problematiche legate alla'Area archeologica centrale di Roma fornendo un contributo progettuale ed operativo alla questione del suo rapporto con la città. Rappresenta anche un doveroso tributo di riconoscenza di Sapienza verso la sua Città. Il volume contiene anche un saggio in cui è descritta l'ipotesi di progetto strutturale di un viadotto per connettere l'area del Colosseo con piazza Venezia.
