Through this book the author tries to describe, even though in a discontinuous and rhapsodic fashion due to the extent of the subject, the polyhedric nature of architectural project, by framing it through the multiple experiences of various personalities. The book is composed both of theoretical contributions and of planning experiences, as the authors is are convinced that any research should contain both the project’s roots and its results and that, similarly, every project should also be a new work of research. The contributions of many professors coming from different disciplinary fields and experiences are presented in this book as theoretical frameworks and as counterpoints to some theoretic-critical essays on themes related to architectural composition and to some teaching experiences that were developed in the last few years, among which the experiences of the Laboratorio di Progettazione Architettonica and graduation thesis. The above mentioned ambivalence characterizing architectural projects is examined through the analysis of some well-known contrasts, such as the ones existing between form and function, building typology and urban morphology, intuition and literature, contemporary and pre-existing projects, as the authors is convinced that every reasoning should feed by positive contrast and attempt to go beyond some apriorisms by using creative discussions that may succeed into deconstructing those axioms, in order to successively reconstruct them more vigorously.
