This paper discusses the fundamental Orientalistic, Eurocentric approach to Rabindranath Tagore by contemporary Italian Indologists. In their poor historical awareness of the situation prevailing in India, then a British Colony, they tried to interpret Tagore and his 'Indianness' in the light of (British) colonial ideologies.
