This volume offers a reflection on the Japanese theater, analyzing the whole of the stage machinery and the whole relationship that surrounds and supports the performance, in that century of decisive evolution that goes from the second half of the first half of the twentieth century. This volume tries to offer a broader view of what lives inside and outside the Japanese theater, covering literary, historical, political, legal, architectural and artistic management issues, and presenting considerations on linguistic repertoires and changes related to performance spaces and on the relationship between performance and power.
