The concept of resilient regions has spread in recent years in the political and academic debate. The paper calls into question the territorial approach to local development that is at the basis of this concept, referring to the debate on the conceptualization of the region in a territorial and relational perspective. Through a focus on the problems of fisheries in the border region of South-Western Sicily, the paper suggests the need for a rethinking of the concept of regional resilience, in favour of interpretative categories that take into account the multi-scale, trans-regional and trans-national nature of the challenges that the territories have to face.

Abstract
The concept of resilient regions has spread in recent years in the political and academic debate. The paper calls into question the territorial approach to local development that is at the basis of this concept, referring to the debate on the conceptualization of the region in a territorial and relational perspective. Through a focus on the problems of fisheries in the border region of South-Western Sicily, the paper suggests the need for a rethinking of the concept of regional resilience, in favour of interpretative categories that take into account the multi-scale, trans-regional and trans-national nature of the challenges that the territories have to face.I documenti in IRIS sono protetti da copyright e tutti i diritti sono riservati, salvo diversa indicazione.
