Fast Charge is the Formula SAE Full Electric team of Sapienza University of Rome. Fast Charge born in 2012 from the heritage of TUSCIA Reparto Corse and thanks to the collaboration and support of ENEL, SCIRE, CTL and ENEA. The team, composed by more than 20 young engineers, focused its design activity in the optimization of powertrain and rolling chassis, in order to obtain a lightweight full electric racing car. A careful design of the storage system has been performed, combining a sizing strategy tailored on endurance real data with a “smart” cooling system. The main specifications in 2013 of the Fast Charge car consist of: optimized steel tube chassis, single YASA DD500 electric motor with SEVCON Evolution 5 drive, EIG 20Ah lithium-ion cells with plastic case, modular battery modules air cooling system with electronic management, aluminum wheel group, limited slip differential, data logging system with thermocouples on all cells and a complete set of sensors for car vehicle dynamics and finally, carbon fiber bodywork for an overall car weight of 230 kg, 85 kW @ 400V and 1500 Nm @ wheels.

Abstract
Fast Charge is the Formula SAE Full Electric team of Sapienza University of Rome. Fast Charge born in 2012 from the heritage of TUSCIA Reparto Corse and thanks to the collaboration and support of ENEL, SCIRE, CTL and ENEA. The team, composed by more than 20 young engineers, focused its design activity in the optimization of powertrain and rolling chassis, in order to obtain a lightweight full electric racing car. A careful design of the storage system has been performed, combining a sizing strategy tailored on endurance real data with a “smart” cooling system. The main specifications in 2013 of the Fast Charge car consist of: optimized steel tube chassis, single YASA DD500 electric motor with SEVCON Evolution 5 drive, EIG 20Ah lithium-ion cells with plastic case, modular battery modules air cooling system with electronic management, aluminum wheel group, limited slip differential, data logging system with thermocouples on all cells and a complete set of sensors for car vehicle dynamics and finally, carbon fiber bodywork for an overall car weight of 230 kg, 85 kW @ 400V and 1500 Nm @ wheels.I documenti in IRIS sono protetti da copyright e tutti i diritti sono riservati, salvo diversa indicazione.
