It is generally known from the scientific literature that the ssonometric method is, together with that of quoted projections, the last one to be codified. The studies that led to the birth of assonometria as a method of representation are believed to stem from the 19th century. The scientific support at the basis of innumerable pre-19th century assonometric representations appearing since ancient times, evident from the 15th century onwards in texts dealing with geometry, machinery and fortifications, has not yet been sufficiently investigated. This contribution aims to provide suggestions and indications to young students to aid them in retracing the history of this method of representation by rediscovering its roots, as a means of establishing a course that presents ample margin for research right up to the present day.

Abstract
It is generally known from the scientific literature that the ssonometric method is, together with that of quoted projections, the last one to be codified. The studies that led to the birth of assonometria as a method of representation are believed to stem from the 19th century. The scientific support at the basis of innumerable pre-19th century assonometric representations appearing since ancient times, evident from the 15th century onwards in texts dealing with geometry, machinery and fortifications, has not yet been sufficiently investigated. This contribution aims to provide suggestions and indications to young students to aid them in retracing the history of this method of representation by rediscovering its roots, as a means of establishing a course that presents ample margin for research right up to the present day.I documenti in IRIS sono protetti da copyright e tutti i diritti sono riservati, salvo diversa indicazione.
