Il Design nell'Economia della Post-Produzione

The essay tells the crisis in design, but also in the industry and society as a whole by the advent of the new technologies of production: the picture portraiting the laboratories of rapid manufacturing seems far away from the one depicting famous Charlie Chaplin in the movie 'Modern Times' in 1936, which well represents the old diagram of the Taylorist assembly line. The crisis is also a crisis of the factory of the industrial city, and especially the crisis of the organization and production process that characterized the twentieth century, in the direction of the new post-Fordist production systems and small series, and besides in more recent times what we call the open source, the customization, and the crowd-sourcing.

Il saggio racconta una crisi che investe il design, ma anche l’industria e la società tutta attraverso l’avvento le nuove tecnologie di produzione: le foto che ritraggono i laboratori di rapid manufacturing sono lontani anni luce dall’immagine famosa di Charlie Chaplin nel film ‘Tempi Moderni’ del 1936, che ben raffigura il vecchio diagramma della catena di montaggio taylorista. La crisi della fabbrica è anche crisi della città industriale, e soprattutto crisi di un sistema organizzativo e produttivo che ha caratterizzato tutto il Novecento, nella direzione dei nuovi sistemi di produzione post-Fordista e della piccola serie, eppoi quello che sarà in tempi più recenti l’open source, la customization, e il crowd-sourcing.
