A profound revolution has already transformed the Sapiens we once were into something different: a transformation in which innovation is one of the few paths possible if we want to overcome the situation of worldwide crisis in which the Western economies are mired. And in this sense, for us architects it is of paramount importance to focus on the specificities and peculiarities that characterize innovative processes in the building sector, reflecting on the strategies to be implemented in the years to come in order to support the economic system in such difficult times; to create a redevelopment and transformation tool for the built environment and redefine the role played by environmental technological design. This is a technological challenge that concerns the reorganization of social hardware in technologies that are resource-thrifty and respectful of nature, ranging from production plants to single buildings, from industry to agriculture.
