The circumplex model of family and couple systems identifies the dimensions of cohesion, flexibility and communication as main categories to describe the family. The application of the model and its instruments raised various reflections and suggestions, mainly about the linear or curvilinear nature of the scale. Olson (2008) have developed a new evaluation system, the FACES-IV, suitable for capturing in a complete way the dimensions of cohesion and flexibility. The new questionnaire includes six scales (two scales for cohesion and flexibility balanced and four unbalanced scales), a scale for family satisfaction, one for communication, a family profile to collect the data, a typology consisting of six types of families, a new version of the family map, and new indicators. Our study aimed to assess reliability and validity of FACES-IV in an Italian adult sample composed of 517 protocols, collected from six different geographical contexts (Rome, Siena, Ancona, Palermo, Messina, Catania).

Abstract
Our study aimed to assess reliability and validity of FACES-IV in an Italian adult sample composed of 517 protocols, collected from six different geographical contexts (Rome, Siena, Ancona, Palermo, Messina, Catania).I documenti in IRIS sono protetti da copyright e tutti i diritti sono riservati, salvo diversa indicazione.
