The numerous and fruitful personal and artistic contacts of Luigi Nono with the Polish world of intellectuals, people of culture, and musicians are the background to his two great compositions: Diario polacco '58 and Quando stanno morendo... Diario polacco 2, works that can be chronologically placed near the two major turning points in the artistic career of one of the greatest representatives of the musical avant-garde of the 20th century. The article is a result of the cooperation of a philologist/comparatist and a musician/musicologist.
