" The glade born from thinning out the trees lets the sunlight penetrate the darkness of the wood. But creating space means creating the conditions to inhabit. A house placed under a tree evokes protection and the church is like such a house. It is a shelter, a secure refuge. House of man and house of God, that is house of God’s people. A real domus ecclesiae where social and spiritual meet each other. The church welcomes anyone and is always ready like a permanently set up table. It is the place of many rebirths after many falls, in a neverending rebe-ginning. Entering the church, through its doorsteps, passages, corridors, is an approaching process which is both physical and spiritual. The metaphor of the wood comes back with the tree, which dies becoming architectural structure and reappears luxuriant on the top of the church ".
