This special issue presents studies on different facets of the topic lexical access, each of which constitutes a challenge in terms of language diversity, type of populations and type of tasks. The age range of the participants involved in these studies spans from preschoolers to old people and therefore captures the evolution and the involution of some basic processes underlying the retrieval of appropriate words. Specificities of monolingual vs. bi/plurilingual processing in lexical access are also presented and discussed.
