This paper concentrates on some crucial issues of contemporary education, analyzing phenomena such as the neoliberal hegemony and its impact on the formation, the political crisis in the "liquid" societies, and the philosophical and political perspectives of communitarianism in the light of the theories of MacIntyre, Taylor and Girard. Virtue ethics, newly proposed by MacIntyre and Taylor, offers many opportunities for education and has received much attention, especially in the United States and Britain, through the so-called "character education". This educational proposal has been linked with the political philosophy of communitarianism, today a viable alternative to the dominant neo-liberalism. Girard's philosophy offers the possibility to interpret contemporary reality as based on the exaggerated individualism that characterizes nowadays globalized life.

Abstract
Girard's philosophy offers the possibility to interpret contemporary reality as based on the exaggerated individualism that characterizes nowadays globalized life.I documenti in IRIS sono protetti da copyright e tutti i diritti sono riservati, salvo diversa indicazione.
