In the period November-December 2010 the Italian media discourse is particularly turbulent, treating - in contrast to other European countries - not the economic crisis but Berlusconi. The anomalia Berlusconi is increasingly perceived as a state of emergency in domestic as well as foreign policy, various media events and related discoursive struggles, all more or less entangled with the Berlusconi anomaly, shape the everyday discourse and at last produce a government crisis whose persistence - at middle December - induces Italian as well as international media to announce "the end of the Berlusconi era" (la fine dell'era Berlusconi). This contribution represents a first attempt to examine this turbulent situation from a discourse analytical point of view. After detecting those media (daily newspapers, TV news, talk shows) that are most involved in the examined discoursive struggles, a range of central discourse strands (machismo, racism, institutions/legality, students' protests) is chosen to be analyzed by means of typical fragments (headlines and titles, illustration, text sections) in oppositional as well as government-friendly media. Thus first answers can be given to the general question: Which fields of sayability are in the examined period disclosed to the average newspaper reader and TV news viewer in Italy? The comparison of the discoursive strategies used from the different media positions leads to the thesis of the Berlusconi anomaly, an interpretation pattern that helps answer a further question: through which discoursive means the oppositional media contribute to increase perception of anomaly? And which strategies are used, in contrast, by the right-wing and government-friendly media to contain emerging fear of denormalization? This viewpoint permits also hypotheses regarding one last question: which possibilities are activated to contrast the hegemonial tendencies of re-normalization through an efficient opposing discourse?

Abstract
This viewpoint permits also hypotheses regarding one last question: which possibilities are activated to contrast the hegemonial tendencies of re-normalization through an efficient opposing discourse?I documenti in IRIS sono protetti da copyright e tutti i diritti sono riservati, salvo diversa indicazione.
