The volume aims to fill a gap in the literature on gender and migration, suggesting an approach that is at the same time more defined and more comprehensive than the existing works on the topic. On the one hand, even if the volume inserts itself into the well-known debate on gender and migration, it is tailored to the particular experience of Italy, where this topic intersects with the country’s legal and historical uniqueness. On the other hand, the book does not stop with considering only a few aspects of the problematic linkage between gender and migration, but, to the contrary, it analyzes many (and in several cases, innovative) aspects of the topic, such as access to citizenship or to social services, family law, colonial past and Catholic missionaries, education, and constitutional rights.
The volume includes essays on the relationship between gender and migration in the Italian experience and according to an Italian perspective

Abstract
The volume aims to fill a gap in the literature on gender and migration, suggesting an approach that is at the same time more defined and more comprehensive than the existing works on the topic. On the one hand, even if the volume inserts itself into the well-known debate on gender and migration, it is tailored to the particular experience of Italy, where this topic intersects with the country’s legal and historical uniqueness. On the other hand, the book does not stop with considering only a few aspects of the problematic linkage between gender and migration, but, to the contrary, it analyzes many (and in several cases, innovative) aspects of the topic, such as access to citizenship or to social services, family law, colonial past and Catholic missionaries, education, and constitutional rights.I documenti in IRIS sono protetti da copyright e tutti i diritti sono riservati, salvo diversa indicazione.
