This essay examines some translations of Inferno in order to underline the evolution of the Chinese lexicon and the influence of Jesuit lexicon on modern language.
Il saggio ripercorre, da un punto di vista lessicale, le scelte traduttive operate dai primi quattro traduttori cinesi della Commedia dantesca. L'analisi prende in esame la trasmutazione cinese di alcune terzine dell'Inferno, nel tentativo di evidenziare l'evoluzione lessicale della lingua cinese nel corso del Novecento e la presenza del lessico religioso creato dai Gesuiti in Cina a partire dal XVII secolo.
