This essay examines some terzines of Dante’s Inferno in three different Chinese translations, in order to underline what the Chinese interpretation of the Divine Comedy was in different phases of the last century (1921, 1990 and 2000). Each of the three translators offered a personal and subjetive reading of this masterpiece, and decided to ‘sacrify’ some cultural and linguistic aspects of the Italian literary source, in order to render this text more comprehensible to the Chinese readers.
Il saggio propone una lettura comparata di alcune terzine della Divina Commedia, in tre diverse traduzioni cinesi (1921, 1990, 2000), nel tentativo di cogliere quale sia stata l’interpretazione critica dei tre traduttori, quale la lettura, soggettiva e personale, che ciascuno di loro ha voluto offrire dell’opera, quali le scelte lessicali e culturali.
