The first part of this essay describes the ‘success’ of Dante, the most appreciated and translated Italian author in China, during the 20th century. The second part of the paper, on the other hand, analyzes some recent Chinese translations of the Divine Comedy which were published during the last decades of 20th century - some in poetic form, others in prosaic form, some directly from the source language, others through intermediary languages - in order to exemplify some of the most complex cases of textual ambiguity between two different linguistic and cultural systems.
La prima parte del saggio descrive la fortuna di Dante in Cina, tra gli autori italiani più apprezzati e tradotti nel corso del XX secolo; la seconda, invece, esamina alcune delle recenti traduzioni della Commedia, della seconda metà del '900 - alcune in forma prosastica, altre in forma poetica, alcune condotte direttamente dalla lingua italiana altre passando per lingue intermediarie - per evidenziare i più complessi casi di ambiguità testuale scaturiti tra i due sistemi linguistici e culturali.
