This is the first book of the series "Italia Regia" edited by Antonella Ghignoli, François Bougard and Wolfgang Huschner (Eudora Verlag, Leipzig). This series aims to present the main results of the researches conducted within the "Italia Regia" project, an international research project coordinated by Ghignoli, Bougard and Huschner. The project focuses on the study of the diplomas as complex media, reflecting the relationships between rulers (kings or emperors) and élites in the Regnum Italiae. This book contains essays by french, german and italian scholars devoted to diplomas and "notitiae iudicati" (records of disputes and judgements) addressed to Tuscan laymen or churches. It contains also the critical edition of 4 (till now) unknown original diplomas (by Carlmann, Wido, Otto II, Conrad II).
