Abstract
The contribution explores the features of English within the European institutions. The methodological approach is based on corpus linguistics, and integrated with the tools offered by textual, genre and discourse analyses. This approach allows us to identify recurrent or dissimilar patterns, in relation to context, identity and ideology. The texts analysed include speeches by leading figures in the EU, non-native speakers who use English in their institutional roles, thus forging a new geo-political identity.I documenti in IRIS sono protetti da copyright e tutti i diritti sono riservati, salvo diversa indicazione.
