Pre-giudizi critici sul tema del recupero delle aree e manufatti industriali dismessi: il sito di viale Maraini a Rieti

Architecture, constantly undergoing the judgment of history, is not immutable, it cannot escape the link with the past. This always intervenes to relativize the present age because, when the consciousness of time appears, all buildings must the deal with the transitory nature of their existence. If any architectural structure is potentially submitted to lose meaning and appropriateness of the paradigms itself, a phenomenon that can determine the crisis, it can also happen that an architecture degraded, over the years, could be regenerated by taking new figurative appearances and physical consistence. These will only be the consequences of the conditions and the context of that time. The results of the modification will be influenced by the time that produced the regeneration, by his orders systems and modes of interaction that is establishes between memories of the past, present reality and future vision. This introduces, by a general point of view, the case of the current regeneration and rehabilitation of the industrial heritage in “viale Maraini” in Rieti; the industrial site object of this study was therefore analyzed whit regard to complexity due to the dialectic between urban issues, the necessity of identifying parameters of action for the recovery of environmental and spatial structures, such as to protect the aesthetic values and communication typical of early “900 production sites, considering recent international practices and experiences.
