The essay presents a very interesting episode of Savinio's activity as a wordbook writer: the history of the poem "Orpheus widower," written by Savino in 1950, where the multitasking artist gathers themes connected to the character of Orpheus, he had been developed since 1913 (the music drama written in Paris in 1913 for a Fokine's ballet). The history of this poem is followed through the unpublished materials deposited in Savino's Archive (A. Bonsanti's Cabinet GP Vieusseux of Florence), and read by comparing three different writings (manuscripts and drafts), and especially the new first ending of the drama.
