Realismo e oltre nell'opera di Carlo Bernari

The first novel by Bernari "Three workers" (1934) has a foundational character for the subsequent work of the Neapolitan author, in particular for the shape of the relationship between realism and experimentalism inspired by avant-garde experiences (UDA, surrealism): the essay analyzes the structure, the expressive registers of the novel, the main sources (Verga, Pirandello, Tozzi), the influence on literature of the second postwar period, from Neorealism (Calvino, "The Path to the Nests of Spiders") to the realism and the "industrial" novel of the fifties (Pratolini, "Metellus"; Ottieri, "Tight times"), both in the narrative structures and characters, both in linguistic choices.

Il primo romanzo di Bernari "Tre operai" (1934) ha un carattere fondativo per la successiva opera dell'autore napoletano, nel particolare rapporto tra la forma del realismo e lo sperimentalismo ispirato da esperienze d'avanguardia (UDA, surrealismo): il saggio analizza la struttura, i registri espressivi del romanzo, le fonti principali (Verga, Pirandello, Tozzi), l'influenza esercitata sulla letteratura del secondo dopoguerra, dal neorealismo (Calvino, "Il sentiero dei nidi di ragno") al realismo e al romanzo "industriale" degli anni Cinquanta (Pratolini, "Metello"; Ottieri, "Tempi stretti"), sia nelle strutture narrative e nei personaggi, sia nelle scelte linguistiche.
