We have conducted a preliminary isotope investigation to assess diet and mobility patterns at Fewet. Stable carbon (d13C) and nitrogen (d15N) data only yielded a few reliable results, most likely in consideration of the hyper arid conditions of the site. Strontium isotope ratios (87Sr/86Sr) on the other hand revealed to successfully ascertain patterns of residential mobility at the site. According to strontium data, throughout the use of the cemetery the population at Fewet might have shifted from having different areas of origin, in the earlier phases, to becoming local to the region. This is mirrored in spatial relation of the tumuli according to moment of use of the cemetery: earlier groups clustered in the central part of the necropolis and later groups concentrated in the southernmost section.

Abstract
We have conducted a preliminary isotope investigation to assess diet and mobility patterns at Fewet. Stable carbon (d13C) and nitrogen (d15N) data only yielded a few reliable results, most likely in consideration of the hyper arid conditions of the site. Strontium isotope ratios (87Sr/86Sr) on the other hand revealed to successfully ascertain patterns of residential mobility at the site. According to strontium data, throughout the use of the cemetery the population at Fewet might have shifted from having different areas of origin, in the earlier phases, to becoming local to the region. This is mirrored in spatial relation of the tumuli according to moment of use of the cemetery: earlier groups clustered in the central part of the necropolis and later groups concentrated in the southernmost section.I documenti in IRIS sono protetti da copyright e tutti i diritti sono riservati, salvo diversa indicazione.
