Federico Confalonieri represents a tragic figure of Liberalism living during the Italian ‘Risorgimento’. He did a serious attempt to reform the educational and labour politics of his country, beginning from the 1920-21 riots in Piemonte and Lombardia. His work continued through the collaboration with the journal ‘Il Conciliatore’ leaded by Silvio Pellico, and during the exile in Usa and Europe, after fifteen years spent in the terrible jail named ‘Spielberg’.
Federico Confalonieri nell'Italia del primo Ottocento rappresenta una figura tragica e profonda del liberalismo risorgimentale, che dai moti del 1820-21 in Piemonte e Lombardia, dopo la collaborazione al Conciliatore di Silvio Pellico, fino all'esilio in USA e in Europa dopo 15 anni di carcere duro allo Spielberg, ha tentato di dare un'impronta riformista alle politiche educative e di lavoro ai suoi connazionali.
