This paper deals with the trial of Gonoo, a minor leader in Singhbhum district, to show the significant impact of the 1857 rebellion in the Gangetic plains of north India. Gonoo is a less known figure among rebels as compared with Sidhu, Kanu, Birsa Munda and others. This is an attampt to understand his personality, world and worldview on the basis of available sources.
