Prefazione

This is the preface to a book by Massimo Coltrinari that does not follow the traditional format of most books on Italian Risorgimento, where the interest is focused mainly on political, and cultural ideals of the Risorgimento leaving in the background the war. Instead, to the war events and local events is dedicated this book, which captures some dimensions therefore underestimated by the Risorgimento historiography itself. It is therefore a methodological and documentative contribution to local history and military history.

Questa è la prefazione a un libro di Massimo Coltrinari che non segue il format delle proposte editoriali più recenti, dove l’interesse si concentrava prevalentemente sugli aspetti politici, ideali e culturali del Risorgimento lasciando sullo sfondo gli eventi bellici. E in disparte rimanevano anche le vicende locali, che pagavano l’inevitabile visione d’insieme imposta dalle celebrazioni di uno Stato unitario. Proprio agli eventi bellici e alle vicende locali è invece dedicato questo libro, che coglie dunque alcune dimensioni poco valorizzate dalla storiografia risorgimentale proponendosi come contributo di metodo per la storia locale e di documentazione per la storia militare.
