Chapter 9 of the Report Territory describes the morphology of the settlement system in two dimensions: metropolitan and local. The settlement system of the province, characterized by: Rome, the medium and small urban centers of the hinterland, the outer centers. After the growth of the 60s and 80s, in the 90s, and 2000, the Province is affected by metropolitan dynamics and local processes that deeply change its structure and shape, accentuating the conurbation between Rome and the hinterland urban centers, the aggregation of the centers of the 2nd crown and the coast, the disintegration of the outer centers and the formation of urban sprawl in the intermediate territories and coastal areas. The survey method adopted is aimed to: the description of the character-value and the dynamics and problems of the metropolitan area and its components, through their past and recent process of transformation, the interpretation of the current and trendy imagine of the settlements.

Il Rapporto Territorio interpreta la morfologia del sistema insediativo provinciale nella duplice dimensione d’area vasta metropolitana e di sistemi locali componenti. Il metodo di indagine adottato è finalizzato: alla lettura dei caratteri-valore e delle dinamiche e problemi dell’intera costruzione metropolitana e delle parti componenti, attraverso il loro processo formativo e trasformativo più recente.
