Abstract
The progressive corrosion suffered by the classicistic system of literary genres following the success of romantic aesthetics, up to the denial of their very existence, sustained by B. Croce, has met in the twentieth century literary theory a sensitive inversion of course; in the face of a general agreement on the relevance of genre to the work, however, the full legitimacy of the notion of genre represents a problem remained open in twentieth-century literary theory (Hempfer, Bachtin, Frye, Jauss). For illustrative purposes, the statutes of some well-characterized genres are then reconstructed: the fantastic literature, erotic, police, science fictionI documenti in IRIS sono protetti da copyright e tutti i diritti sono riservati, salvo diversa indicazione.
