From the earliest stages of Hospital Architectural Design, designers have to take many decisions mostly based on the relationship between the building product and his context. Currently this process lacks of a computer system capable to support and verify building performances. The research proposal aims at formalizing Knowledge about the hospital building design and context through the use of ontologies in order to enable the implementation of existing BIM instruments.Identifying Context entities and studying a system that relates them to building components and spaces design, is a fundamental element for the definition of an excellent design solution as these relationships are overlooked in the early stages of design. Entities of each sub-set have been defined and formalized by means of Protégé O.L. The development of such a system for managing product related with context can change the relationships among product, context and designers as the latter can be advised on what can affect their design solutions.
