Fifth paper in a series devoted to the interpretation of the Late Khotanese text known as the Book of Vimalakīrti (10th century), a catechism in verses that expounds the doctrines of Mahāyāna Buddhism in the form of question and answer. The work has not been traced in sources in other languages of the Buddhist tradition. In the paper, four questions and answers are interpreted; vv. 166-170 on the code of conduct of the bodhisattva; vv. 196-202 on true vision and awakening; vv. 203-206 on the empty nature of the world; and vv. 207-209 on recollection of the equality of all phenomena as the remedy against passion, aversion and delusion.
