The book is a deep study on the Italian University supply on Communication, produced by Scienze.com, the permanent Observatory of the National Conference of the Faculties and the Degree Courses on Sciences of Communication. After 20 years of the beginning of the degree courses on Communication, the paper examines the health of the Italian first and second level University education on Communication. The first paragraph is an introduction, depicting the context of the crisis provoked by the convergence of the reforms of the university governance, and the image problems of the Communication Sciences courses in public opinion. The second part analyzes the trends of the university supply on Communication in the last decade, both for the first and the second level. The last paragraph focuses on the demand of education, analyzing the fluxes of freshmen students, compared with the general enrolments to the national university system.

The book is a deep study on the Italian University supply on Communication, made on the basis of the data produced by Scienze.com, the permanent Observatory of the National Conference of the Faculties and the Degree Courses on Sciences of Communication. After twenty years of the beginning of the degree courses on Communication, the author’s essay examines the health of the Italian first and second level University education on Communication. The first paragraph is an introduction to the main issue, depicting the context of the crisis provoked by the convergence of the reforms of the university governance, and the image problems of the Communication Sciences courses in public opinion. The second part analyzes the trends of the university supply on Communication in the last decade, both for the first and the second level, paying particular attention to the reduction processes provoked by the passages from the old to to the new system (from 509 University System to 270 University System), and to the effects of the rationalization of the academic governance on the centres in the different regions of the country. The last paragraph focuses on the demand of education. We analyzed the fluxes of freshmen students of both level degrees (first and second cycle), compared with the general enrolments to the national university system. After, we made deeper analyses, with specific focuses on the trends of the 5 second level Communication courses, and on the tenure of our degree courses in respect of others linguistic and social science sectors.
