Il secondo Simone. Le fonti letterarie e visuali di un'illustrazione del Salterio Chludov (Bisanzio, secolo IX)

The article investigates literary and visual sources of a marginal illustration in the f. 51 of the so- called Chludov Psalter (Moscow, Historical Museum, GIM 86795; Khlud.129-d). The book was realized in Costantinople in 9th century. The illustration shows a parallel between peter triumphing on Simon Magus and the iconodule patriarch Nikephoros trampling on the iconoclast John the Grammarian. The illustration is connected to the action of anathema in council of Greek Church of the time and to the invocation of Simon Magus in this form of malediction. In this way the article reflects on relationship among representation, truth and reality.

L'articolo ricostruisce le fonti letterarie e visuali di un'illustrazione apposta al margine del f. 51v del "Salterio Chludov" (Mosca, Museo storico, GIM 86795; Khlud.129-d) realizzato a Costantinopoli nel IX secolo che raffigura in parallelo Pietro trionfante su Simon Mago e Niceforo trionfante su Giovanni il Grammatico. Si mette in relazione questa illustrazione con la pratica dell'anatema dei concili della Chiesa ortodossa e con l'invocazione di Simon Mago nel contesto di questa pratica. Si riflette infine sulla relazione tra raffigurazione, verità e realtà.
