Chapter 7 of the book "Theories and Techniques of Corporate Social Responsibility" debates an absolutely main issue, the problem of sustainability, to begin with the factors which cause more distress nowadays, as the uncontrolled increase of world population, the impact of anthropic activities on echosystems, the loss of biodiversity, the dependance of human societies from not renewable resources and their actual trend of consumption, the possible alternative sources of energy, the atmosphere and air pollution, the greenhouse effect, the global warming; it than reviews all the initiatives adopted by international community, from the Bruntland Report of del 1987, the International Conference of Rio of 1992 and the program Agenda 21, the Kyoto Protocol of 1997, until the International Conference “Rio+20” and to its deluding results, even if opening to the innovative issue of Green Echonomy; it also debates the relationship between Companies' Governance and Sustainability, specially through the report of research of Massachussets Institute of Technology and the explanation of the new tool of Sustainability Scorecard experimented in USA, and it closes with some models and examples of Sustainability Policies, Programs and Projects in Europe and in Italy.
Il Capitolo VII del volume Teorie e tecniche della Responsabilità Sociale d’Impresa tratta di una questione assolutamente centrale, il problema della sostenibilità, a partire dai fattori che la mettono maggiormente in crisi ai nostri giorni, come l’aumento della popolazione mondiale, l’impatto delle attività antropiche sugli ecosistemi, la perdita della biodiversità, la dipendenza delle società umane da risorse non rinnovabili e il loro stato attuale di consumo, le possibili fonti energetiche alternative, l’inquinamento atmosferico, l’effetto serra e il global warming; passa quindi in rassegna le iniziative poste in essere dalla comunità internazionale, dal Rapporto Bruntland del 1987, alla Conferenza Internazionale di Rio del 1992 ed Agenda 21, al Protocollo di Kyoto del 1997, fino alla Conferenza Internazionale “Rio+20” e ai suoi deludenti risultati, che pure aprono alla green economy; tratta inoltre del rapporto tra governance delle imprese e sostenibilità, soprattutto attraverso il rapporto di ricerca del Massachussets Institute of Technology e la spiegazione del nuovo strumento della scorecard per la sostenibilità, sperimentato negli Stati Uniti, e si conclude con alcuni esempi di politiche, programmi e progetti di sostenibilità in Europa e in Italia.
