Recent Italian Perspectives on Gandhi

This paper deals with books, monographs and collections of essays where Italian authors from various backgrounds have presented their views on Mohandas Karamchand Gandhi to the general Italian readership. Rather than concentrating on the scholarly analysis of Mahatma Gandhi from a historical or indological point of view, as found in specialized journal articles, it aims at sketching out the different ways in which Gandhi features as a significant figure during the last twenty years of public debates in Italy.
