As part of a study of the student protests of 1968 carried out through forty oral interviews with university students who participated in them, this paper will focus upon the differences between the versions of the story as told by women and by men. Through the use of software for the statistical analysis of textual corpora (TalTac2), the male and female “specific vocabularies" are compared from a semantic perspective, and the semantic fields (those groups of words which refer to the same areas of meaning and between which a variety of relationships including antonymy, hyponymy and synonymy may exist) where the narrative is developed thus defined and analysed. The distance that separates the two lexicons reflects two different hierarchies of importance - existential and memorial – and confirms the distance between the genders' experiences, while at the same time manifesting itself in unexpected ways: in particular, the dramatic nature which the shift from private to public assumes for the women rather than for the men, and the role that scholastic culture and hard work played in the creation of female identity in their pre-1968 lives as opposed to the importance attributed by their male peers to political experiences in the dissident opposition groups of the 1960s.
Nel quadro di una ricerca sulla memoria del 68 attraverso quaranta interviste orali a studenti universitari che vi hanno partecipato, in questo articolo l’A. incentra l’analisi sulle differenze del racconto tra uomini e donne. Grazie all’uso di un software per l’analisi statistica di corpora testuali (TalTac2), vengono messi a confronto, dal punto di vista semantico, i “vocabolari specifici” maschile e femminile. Vengono così delineati e analizzati i campi semantici in cui si articolano le narrazioni, ovvero gli insiemi di parole che si riferiscono a una stessa area di significati, e che possono essere in relazione tra loro secondo rapporti di vario tipo (antonimia, iponimia, sinonimia, ecc.). La distanza che separa i due vocabolari riflette due diverse gerarchie di rilevanza sul piano esistenziale e su quello memoriale, confermando la distanza di genere ma allo stesso tempo articolandola secondo modalità inaspettate: in particolare, la drammaticità che i passaggi dal privato al pubblico assumono per le ragazze rispetto ai ragazzi, o, nella fase di vita precedente al 68, il ruolo della cultura e dell’impegno scolastico come elemento fondante di un’identità femminile, di fronte all’importanza rivestita invece per i coetanei maschi dalle esperienze politiche nell’area minoritaria ed eretica degli anni 60.
