Unità federativa o indivisibile. La questione costituzionale in Italia nel triennio giacobino

This book reconstructs the events surrounding the “famous” contest organised by the General Administration of Lombardy on the 27th September 1796 on the theme “Which form of free government can best secure the happiness of Italy?”. The book highlights two main points, on the one hand the main themes of the discussions presented at the competition, on the other hand the thorny questions asked by the organizers of the 1796 competition: inseparable or federative unity? Which form of government and on what institutional basis can the "happiness" of Italy be achieved? This book seeks to answer these questions.

Il volume ricostruisce le vicende del “celebre” concorso bandito dall’Amministrazione generale della Lombardia il 27 settembre 1796 sul tema “Quale dei Governi liberi meglio convenga alla felicità d’Italia?”. Il lavoro evidenzia due principali argomenti, da un lato, i temi centrali delle dissertazioni presentate al concorso, dall’altro, lo spinoso quesito posto dagli organizzatori del concorso del 1796: unità federativa o indivisibile? Con quale forma di governo e su quali basi istituzionali si potrà realizzare la “felicità” dell’Italia? A queste domande il libro cerca di dare una risposta.
