The paper is a review of the most currently geostatistical methods used for environmental modeling. Geostatistical approach is at first illustrated and the contribution of the methods to the characterization and interpretation of the environmental phenomena is also highlighted. The methods for spatial reconstruction of phenomena by means of estimation and simulation techniques are presented as well as those aimed to the estimation of probability to exceed some given thresholds. In order to underlie the application features and to understate the mathematical complexties, the methods are illustrated by means of several examples both derived from literature and unpublished.
