Nell'officina di Prisciano (con un omaggio a Menandro)

This paper analyses two extracts from Priscian’s Idiomata, namely GL III 338, 21-341, 24 and III 291, 11-292, 21, in order to reconstruct, towards the lessons of extant manuscripts, the archetype text, and to investigate Priscian’s working methods. The archetype text reveals in these extracts a characteristic of Priscian’s text, and in particular of the Idiomata section, in its original form, i. e. that it was non perfectly finished, the lemmas and quotations being not properly selected and organized. In a third extract, GL III 323, 8-11, it is possible to identify a fragment of Menander’s Heautontimoroumenos.
