Glossary of Gadda "" Milanese "" is the result of a search on Gadda prose of the period 1930-1935 and the first systematic study on the different components of multilingualism engineer. Il Glossario di Gadda "milanese" costituisce il risultato di una ricerca sulla prosa gaddiana del periodo 1930-1935 e il primo studio sistematico sulle diverse componenti del plurilinguismo dell’ingegnere. Milano e la realtà milanese hanno sempre suscitato in Gadda sentimenti oscillanti tra l’affetto commosso e il risentimento più violento, che si sono tradotti in pagine tra le più liriche e accorate, ma anche in una requisitoria satirica e impietosa. A Milano Gadda è nato e ha abitato fino al 1940, per trasferirsi in seguito prima a Firenze, poi a Roma. Le tre città hanno scandito tre periodi della sua vita e della sua produzione letteraria ben caratterizzati anche dal punto di vista linguistico. Il periodo milanese, finora poco studiato e rappresentato dalla Meccanica e dai racconti dell’Adalgisa, è stato ridefinito dagli studi filologici degli ultimi anni, in particolare dalla scoperta da parte di Dante Isella dei capitoli inediti della Meccanica e del ‘trittico’ dei Disegni milanesi costituito dall’Incendio di via Keplero, dal San Giorgio in casa Brocchi e da Un fulmine sul ’220. A questo omogeneo corpus di testi si è voluto dedicare uno specifico studio linguistico, ritenendo che uno strumento come un glossario potesse portare un concreto contributo alla conoscenza di una fase così feconda e cruciale della produzione dello scrittore. L’analisi traguarda inoltre da questa specola milanese tutta la produzione gaddiana, proponendo una selezione ragionata delle occorrenze nelle altre opere. Di ogni lemma vengono presentate le probabili fonti letterarie, confermando che anche una prosa eversiva come quella di Gadda non può prescindere da un confronto costante, se pure critico, con la tradizione. Una sezione a parte è dedicata all’analisi del dialetto milanese e di quelle forme di italiano dialettale e dialetto italianizzato che caratterizzano peculiarmente la lingua di questo periodo. Nell’Introduzione, infine, si propone una lettura trasversale del glossario, mediante un’analisi specifica delle varie categorie lessicali (aulicismi, latinismi, toscanismi, tecnicismi, forestierismi, neoformazioni).
