The extraction of information on the mechanical aspects of muscle movements from their electrical activity is one of the main problems in prostheses/orthoses field and, in general, in clinical neurophysiology. The EMG signal takes the form of an interference pattern due to the weighted summation of various muscle fiber action potentials. Because of the relationship between muscle force and EMG, it is possible to extract an estimate of the muscle force from the raw signals. In order to do this, some models of generation of the EMG signal have been proposed.

Abstract
The extraction of information on the mechanical aspects of muscle movements from their electrical activity is one of the main problems in prostheses/orthoses field and, in general, in clinical neurophysiology. The EMG signal takes the form of an interference pattern due to the weighted summation of various muscle fiber action potentials. Because of the relationship between muscle force and EMG, it is possible to extract an estimate of the muscle force from the raw signals. In order to do this, some models of generation of the EMG signal have been proposed.I documenti in IRIS sono protetti da copyright e tutti i diritti sono riservati, salvo diversa indicazione.
